James Earl Marshall Sr. 88, formerly from Milan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at his daughter’s home in Lorain. James was born on September 13, 1923 in Moberly, Missouri. James was the son of the late William Cecil and Villa Marcella Marshall. He served in World War II in the 20th Armored Division. After the war he came to Ohio where he met his wife, Judith Ann Forrest. He worked for Ohio Edison and then at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for 24 years, retiring in 1987. Besides his family he loved his mules. Jim was knows as the “Mule Skinner.” He enjoyed going to car shows and the Missouri State Fair to see the Mules. James raised a family of 8 children with his wife in Milan until Judith passed in 2002. James moved to Bradford, Ohio and for the last 8 years lived with Lucille Marshall before moving to Lorain with his daughter, Susan where he passed away on Saturday morning. He is survived by his eight children, Daughters: Sari Fowles of Florida, Scarlett (Zane) Kowpak of New London, Susan (John) Miller of Lorain, Sunday (Ian) Wallace of Milan, Sons: James (Sandy) Marshall Jr. of Florida, Raymond (Cindy) Marshall of Sandusky, Rhett (Sheila) Marshall of Milan, and Hudson Marshall of Castalia. James also had 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Judith Ann (Forrest) Marshall in 2002, his parents, brother, George, Glen, Russell, and his sister, Elizabeth. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Groff Funeral Home, Milan Chapel 1 South Main Street Milan, Ohio. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Attila Szemesi will officiate. Burial will be in Milan Cemetery. Memorial contributions if desired in James’ memory may be made to one’s favorite charity.
